Free entry to Spiers & Boden ticket holders:

Colourchord is a harmony-singing system developed by Jon Boden, with the support of funding from Awards for All. It allows any group of singers to sight-sing in four-part harmony regardless of experience, using colour-coded lyric-sheets rather than musical notation.

There will be a 30-45 minute workshop before the gig, teaching choruses from suitable songs, giving people the confidence to join in. A short introduction to a new singing system, which Jon came up with over lockdown.

This system would suit community choirs, also those members of Folk Clubs who would like to simply learn 4-part harmonies for folk songs.

Jon will show those attending how to use Colourchord, which at first glance might seem a little complicated, but as the patterns then work exactly the same for every song. all you need from then on is to know the melody and away you go. Singing simple harmonies confidently. Jon calls it “Boil in the bag harmonies”.

Having learnt how to use the system, it is available as a free resource from the website for future.
